There are three hundred and sixty-four days when you might get un-birthday presents…and only one for birthday presents, you know. –Lewis Carroll

In case you were wondering, the Dragonfly’s middle name is “Rose” in honor of Our Blessed Mother and September 8th is the Feast Day commemorating the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Birth of the Virgin Mary – Esteban Murillo (Louvre, Paris)

“Let us celebrate with joy the birth of the Virgin Mary, of whom was born the Sun of Justice…. Her birth constitutes the hope and the light of salvation for the whole world…. Her image is light for the whole Christian people” (From the Liturgy).

Thy birth, O Virgin Mother of God,
heralded joy to all the world.
For from thou hast risen the Sun of justice,
Christ our God.

Destroying the curse, He gave blessing;
and damning death, He bestowed on us
life everlasting.

Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
For from thou hast risen of Sun of justice,
Christ our God.
